Paternity Test Order

Q: I am an outside child and my father is denying me, how can I get him to have a paternity test done?

A: According to Section 10 of the Status of Children Act 1983, as amended, you can apply to the court to order the paternity test.

    1. Not really, because I would suggest you get it court ordered, so it will be done at an "official" location. Those "home tests" aren't very reliable.

  3. I am a non citizen, my daughter was born 3 1/2 years ago but the child father never supported the child although I have made several attempts by asking him for help, he kept on denying me and the child. Now that I am back here in Trinidad, he was granted access by the court, I asked for help to pay her travelling expenses for her return but that too he denied. He never once thought how the child survives, food, medical, clothing, I never once received help. Though I believe the decision to grant him access was biased, can his rights for access be denied because he never supported the child? Law in my country if different, where it clearly says if a father does not support a child after a period of 6 months he is subject to lose all rights to the child.

  4. Is it possible to get a court ordered paternity test if both parents live together with the child, but the father is uncertain if the child is his, and usually how long does it take.
